Up too early; dealt with H. tried to repair the toilet cistern downstairs; unfortunately it seems the plastic needle the plunger pushes has completely packed in; need a new fitting.
Phone call with Parag; seems a bad day for Indian connectivity - no-one one IRC. Created a simple tips document on basic Linux configuration for hackers: so far, only sudo & ssh, I guess I should get ~/.emacs in there too. Started packing / spliting up m66.
Dug into the tangled mess of the new splash code - since the artwork has been moved around, and modules come & go, we end up with the amazing situation where the splash screen is in:

of course - it's not altogether clear which one is used for what. Things like this prolly explain the rather bloating size of the source archive.
Had an amazingly frustrating experience with Sun's OO.o QA team manager, just incredibly pedantic, unhelpful and hostile - very frustrating for volenteers; just not clear what to do about it - OO.o quality is still not good, and the solution seems obvious to me - encourage commits that fix bugs; apparently it's not obvious to everyone.
Car won't start; what fun - can't take the bits of the packed-in loo to get new parts; wonder what else I can take apart. Houses - like computers hover at the top of a tall energy hill and are kept there only by constant effort it seems.
Created a cws for up-streaming Shilpa's nice Quattro Pro import filter. Up-loaded ooo-build-1.7.4 to here, seems to be building quite nicely at long last & by the m66 version, we'll no longer require 30Mb of (unchanged) compressed mozilla binaries to be downloaded.
Car turned out to be a pebkac - moving it a few feet last night & the wet weather made the engine unhappy in a way that burning the battery made right. Pruned a load of old & unlisted patches from cvs.
In the absence of a cvs module, started creating a parallel to default_images to make a future check-in easy & re-structure our artwork build around this. Did the work to port the patches to m66 - lovely to see some old / cruft code chopped out there: scp2, scptools at least - having stripped the mozilla binaries, binfilter, dictionaries etc. out the m66 core source weighs in at 162Mb just slightly smaller than the complete 1.1.3 source.
Replaced the complete ball-cock assembly in the evening; baulked at the disk-washer plumbing though.
