Poked at E-mail. Back-ported an ORBit2 bug-fix, looked at Petr's ooffice bug wrt. the shell appearing. Got lots of mail under control: life feels cleaner. Fixed quickstart's habit of sending "" args to soffice - which it doesn't like.

Hacked relocstat a little more to dump average symbol name lengths & symbol string size data:

So by adding a .suse.hashvals section with the pre-computed hashes we add ~3Mb, but then during linking we wander across only ~6Mb of hash/chain/hashvals instead of 43Mb as now; hopefully with some nicer cache usage effects.

Laptop chugging along re-building/linking things, while building new glibc RPMs etc. glibc package taking forever to build. Disabled OO.o's ldapbe2 which seems to exist only for Sun's config setup, and chews some time at startup.
Phone call with Mark - talked through 'redirect' usage etc.
Installed the new glibc RPM - and poked at the results: 150ms to link libvcl with pre-computed hashvals, and ~280 otherwise: a 45% speedup; hopefully will stack nicely vs. the other wins.
