Up early, train to Cambridge and on to Kings X. Amused to see lady opposite putting on makeup - not something J. needs; somewhat nervous when huge metal device (apparently for eyeball removal) turned up: apparently an eye-brow straightening device. Thankfully she didn't hijack the train with it, and eventually the polyfiller was put away.
Got to the venue, met Nat, went for a pleasant wander to Hyde Park, good stuff. Back for a rather excellent meal, out to an electronics store, and train home.
Integrated the images.zip sorter - seems to work nicely, should shrink the working set a lot, discovered that the impimagetree cache is now really useful, each icon being instantiated just once. Re-measured the memory saving (opening each component).

So a saving of 9Mb or so. For 10 writer windows, it seems we save 4m or so: good; of course, as you use more icon-filled menus / dialogs that will creep up, scaling better.
