Discovered -Bdirect support has been in Alpha5's OO.o for a while now, did a few warm start measurements on an ancient laptop:

It seems the redirect script is no longer necessary, since _ZThn symbols are not marked linkonce anymore: neat. On the other hand, the speedup is only 13% - but this is an old PIII, need to reproduce on newer hardware; installed Alpha5 on some newer H/W in the background, X broke during boot; bother, filed bugs.
Did an m187 build, started merging fixes to CWS gtkquickstart2 - got a number of things in.
I begin to wonder, given the Sun love for strangling the abnormally patient people who are trying to help them build an office suite, whether 'Open'Office should be renamed Office, or perhaps 'Sun'Office, or perhaps even 'Bow-before-the- specification-process' Office, perhaps there is some good acronym for that.
Dinner, hacked a little later - tried to get some dmesg output for Andi Kleen during my I/O related hangs:
