Up early, to the slew of mail and tasks left over from
yesterday.

It seems there is was some confusion over generated over
'what is carrick' in our Moblin vs. that from moblin.org. That's
an anachronism from a previous plan to build a common front-end to
ConnMan (used by moblin.org) and NetworkManager used by SUSE.
Anyhow - apologies for that; to avoid any potential confusion
we'll rename 'carrick' to NetworkManager-netbook (ono) and import
that into Gnome git.

NetworkManager-netbook (like carrick) follows the great UI
design from Intel (and thus they look suspiciously similar, sharing
widgets from the new 'mux' library too - though the NM version is
less polished thus far). Screenshots:
This is some good work from the inimitable Tambet Ingo. One
nice feature (apart from the drag and drop of connections to prioritise the
fallbacks - sadly not working plugged into mutter), is that the list reflects
the latest up-to-date state - which is not possible with nm-applet's GtkMenu.
Of course the 3G network list is also rather useful.

Discovered where my simply appalling 'web' experience comes
from. The magic window-left, window-right buttons carefully placed next
to the arrow keys on my T60p (rather useful to use arrows when editing
a wiki), trigger this sexy browser feature of going back / forward -
which also, really helpfully looses the content I was editing: nice
work browser guys. Dear lazyweb, how do I turn that off ?

Hacked away at boot-chart, trying to isolate some of the
slowness I'm seeing in our boot process. Added some trivial but evil
code to bootchart to allow a hacker to split their process into
multiple sub-process-lets. Rob's idea from yesterday was to do this
via changing the process' name - thus by adding:
prctl (PR_SET_NAME, "start-slow-thing", 0, 0, 0);
you can split out that piece into an (apparently) separate process
in the boot-chart; like this: (for mutter)
which was previously one long process. patch
on the Gnome performance list.

Dinner, played with kids. Back to work - prodded empathy,
the people panel, and created a fun new mutter profiling boot-chart:
hopefully somewhat useful.
