Stuff Michael Meeks is doing

This is my (in)activity log. You might like to visit
Collabora
Productivity a subsidiary of Collabora focusing on LibreOffice support and
services for whom I work.
Also if you have the time to read this sort of stuff you could enlighten
yourself by going to Unraveling Wittgenstein's net or if
you are feeling objectionable perhaps here.
Failing that, there are all manner of interesting things to read on
the LibreOffice Planet news
feed.

To work, cleaned up loose ends, read some OO.o string
conversion code to find some room for performance improvement.
-
Dave Richards pointed out that it has been ten years since
my first
blog post - apparently shortly after I joined Helix Code.
Interestingly though the projects - gIDE, Bonobo, Gnome-Basic,
gnumeric, libgnome etc. I was working on then, are no longer
universally at the cutting edge, it seems the cast of characters
I've was blessed by worked with then - are, mostly, still happily
inflicting their awesomeness on the world. It also seems at some
point I started writing my bullets chronologically top to bottom,
instead of the reverse. It is also interesting how
yesteryear's
screaming
sounds much like the modern kind.
-
Bled the radiator in my attic office - being above the
boiler it appears to have been entirely filled with air; shortly
afterwards - started to broil slowly, nice.
-
Quick call with a supposed 'analyst'; it seems there is nothing like
dressing up some fairly aggressive user-wish-list feedback as a report to
get noticed; hey ho. The right place for great new ideas, is the mailing
list.
-
Plugged away at slow X session starting scripts; hmm - why do
we have so much shell ? it's a mystery to me.
-
Re-arranged the house in the evening; re-inserted the bench
into the hall, that almost blocks it (over the cries of the (blundering)
husband). Moved sofas around, and back into their old places - the
house starts to feel reasonably spacious again somehow.
My content in this blog and associated images / data under
images/
and data/
directories are (usually)
created by me and (unless obviously labelled otherwise) are licensed under
the public domain, and/or if that doesn't float your boat a CC0
license. I encourage linking back (of course) to help people decide for
themselves, in context, in the battle for ideas, and I love fixes /
improvements / corrections by private mail.
In case it's not painfully obvious: the reflections reflected here are my
own; mine, all mine ! and don't reflect the views of Collabora, SUSE,
Novell, The Document Foundation, Spaghetti Hurlers (International),
or anyone else.
It's also important to realise that I'm not in on the Swedish Conspiracy.
Occasionally people ask for formal photos for conferences
or fun.
